Tony Sorci '00 kayaking 250 miles to appeal Doctrine of Discovery

Tony Sorci '00 and seven other paddlers are kayaking/canoeing from 250+ miles from Onondaga, NY to Philadelphia, PA to see Pope Francis and address the Appeal of the Doctrine of Discovery this Friday. This Doctrine has stripped the land from Native Americans, including the Iroquois Nation, and has been an ongoing issue for a very long time. The means of transportation is more symbolic than anything, as it shows unity and determination within a group of people fighting for an important cause. More people will be joining along the way, so strengthen the power of the group. Best of luck on your journey through the waterways and in Philly, Tony!

A former "fac brat", Tony grew up at NMH and played football and Lacrosse during his 4 years at there. After NMH, Tony played lacrosse at Colorado College for 4 years, before returning to NMH to coach football and lacrosse for several years. He then played for the St. Regis Indians (Senior "A"), then the Buffalo Bandits (NLL) for 2 seasons, under Hall of Fame coach, Darris Kilgour. This past summer, Tony coached the Vermont Voyagers (Quabec Senior Lacrosse League) in Essex Junction, VT. They are New England's first semi-pro box lacrosse team for athletes 21+ who aspire to play pro lacrosse or extend their post-collegiate careers.
