Kevin Czepiel '07 to succeed Tom Pratt as NMH Hockey Coach (2016-2017)

Northfield Mount Hermon recently announced that current hockey coach and Director of Athletics, Tom Pratt, is leaving the school at the end of the year (2015-2016), and will be succeeded by Kevin Czepiel '07. Coach Pratt, who has been at NMH for 21 years and has held several other positions, including Director of Summer Session, is entering is 9th season as head hockey coach, and 11th year as Director of Athletics.

Kevin Czepiel, after playing at NMH for 3 years (team captain as a senior), went on to play for the New Jersey Hitmen (EJHL), then played for UMass for 4 years (team captain as a senior). Upon graduating, UMass head coach John Micheletto hired Kevin as the Director of Operations, where he has spent the last two seasons.

This season, Kevin will come on as Coach Pratt's assistant coach, before taking over next season. One of the most unique things about NMH is the number of alumni we employ. I think that is one of the the school's most important attributes because boarding school life is much easier having faculty and staff who have been in your shoes. It is the most effective way for students/players to understand teachers/coaches, and vice versa.

Kevin's experience both on the ice and behind the bench, as well as his experience as an NMH student, will certainly prove valuable for the NMH community and for NMH's hockey program as it enters a new era!
